The ritual from
cold to warm

Under a dome pierced with light, a slow passage: cool marble, rising foam, the heat of the navel stone, and tea. Time moves differently here.

The five steps

A ritual measured in warmth, not minutes

Each step lives at its own temperature. As you move deeper, the room — and this page — warms with you.

  1. 18° Frigidarium

    Cool room

You leave the street behind. Slow breathing, cool marble underfoot, the first quiet.

  2. 30° Tepidarium

    Warming

Gentle heat opens the skin. The dome sweats above you; light falls in coins.

  3. 42° Göbektaşı

    The navel stone

Warm marble at the heart of the room. You lie back; the heat reaches the bone.

  4. 40° Kese & foam

    Scrub & foam

A hand-woven mitt, then a cloud of olive-oil foam. Old skin leaves; the body is new.

  5. 22° Rest

    Tea & stillness

Wrapped in cotton, warm tea in hand. No clock. You leave when you are ready.

The house

Three centuries of steam, still rising

TAS was raised in the old town in the early 18th century and bathed generations before it fell quiet. A four-year restoration returned the dome, the marble and the copper — and, most of all, the pace. Nothing here is designed to be fast.

  1. 1731The hammam is built beside the old market; a single great dome over the hot room.
  2. 1954Closed after the last master leaves; the marble sleeps under dust for decades.
  3. 2021A careful restoration begins — original stone kept, the water system rebuilt.
  4. TodayReopened as a small ritual house. Few guests at a time, by reservation only.

Clean, calm, cared for

The questions before the calm

A hammam is an intimate place. Here is exactly how we keep it clean, private and comfortable — so you can stop thinking about it.

Fresh linens, always

A clean cotton peştemal and mitt for every guest, never reused. Marble is rinsed and sanitised between each ritual.

Mixed or separate

Choose women-only, men-only or private mixed sessions. Attendants match your session; private rooms are fully enclosed.

Free, unhurried cancellation

Plans change. Cancel or move your booking up to 24 hours before with a full refund — no questions, no fee.

Before you come

Questions, answered plainly

What do I wear — is it nude?

No. Everyone wears a peştemal (a cotton wrap) we provide, and you may keep swimwear or underwear on beneath it. You are covered throughout the ritual.

Are sessions mixed, or men and women separate?

Both. We run women-only and men-only sessions, and fully private rooms for couples or friends who want a mixed ritual. You choose when you book.

Is it hygienic? What about the shared marble?

Yes. Linens and mitts are single-use per guest and laundered at high temperature. The marble and navel stone are rinsed and sanitised between every ritual, and the water is filtered continuously.

How long does the whole ritual take?

The Classic ritual runs about 75 minutes; Lux and For-Two around 110. But there is no clock in the rest room — you may stay with your tea as long as you like.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Of course. Cancel or move your booking up to 24 hours beforehand for a full refund, with no fee. Within 24 hours we will happily reschedule you once.

Is the hammam safe during pregnancy or with heart conditions?

Heat and pregnancy or cardiovascular conditions need care. Please tell us in the booking notes; we can lower the temperature, shorten the hot-room time, or advise you to check with your doctor first.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes — any ritual can be bought as a gift, dated open. Mention it in the reservation form and we will prepare a certificate for you.
